Workshops and Trainings

Get help enrolling your child in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 12th grade for the 2026–2027 school year. Twin Rivers staff are available during monthly enrollment support sessions to assist families with Aeries Online Enrollment, school information, community resources, and other support services.

Community Altar Workshop — October 21

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 | 4–6 p.m.

Help us create a meaningful community altar in preparation for our Día de Muertos celebration. Families are invited to bring photos, flowers, or small meaningful items to place on the community altar in honor and remembrance of loved ones. Families can also enjoy Día de Muertos activities and view artwork created by students in the After-School Program.

5th Annual Día de Muertos Celebration — Thursday, October 29, 2026

Altar Blessing & Procession | 4:30–4:45 p.m.

The evening begins at the Las Palmas Elementary School – East Campus Gym with a special Altar Blessing. Following the blessing, families are invited to join a Danza Azteca-led procession from Las Palmas to Martin Luther King Jr. Technology Academy.

Continue the celebration with student performances, music, arts and crafts, food, community resources, and more. All students, families, staff, and community members are welcome.

Honor a Loved One on Our Digital Altar: Families and community members may also submit a photo of a loved one who has passed to be included on our Día de Muertos Digital Altar as a way to honor and celebrate their memory. Submit a photo: bit.ly/DdMDigitalAltar

Adult Student and Family Support Speaker Series

Twin Rivers families are invited to join Alta California Regional Center for two sessions focused on supporting students with disabilities as they transition into adulthood. Families will learn about adult services, community resources, and options to help plan for their student’s future.

Learn about local day programs, supported employment opportunities, and services available to adults with disabilities. Families will explore available resources and what to expect as students transition from school-based services to adult services.

Tuesday, February 2, 2027 | Conservatorship and Alternatives: Understanding Options for Adult Students and Families
Learn about conservatorship, alternatives to conservatorship, and resources families can consider as students transition into adulthood.

Twin Rivers Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Parent Information Night

Topic: IEPs 101: Understanding and Participating in the IEP Process

Join us for a parent-friendly introduction to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)! Learn about the purpose and key components of an IEP, the IEP team and meeting process, and practical ways parents and caregivers can participate meaningfully in developing their child's educational program. Whether you're new to special education or simply looking for a refresher, this session will help you approach the IEP process with greater understanding and confidence.

Join us for an evening celebrating our students, families, and community!
