California Air Resources board (CARB) - Clean mobility in school grant

In 2023, Twin Rivers Unified School District received a Clean Mobility in Schools grant from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to support transformative air-quality improvements and advance our goal of clean mobility. This program is designed to develop a robust zero-emission transportation system, reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our schools and community, create educational and engagement opportunities, and enhance public health, environmental quality, and economic vitality for the communities we serve.

This comprehensive program further strengthens the TRUSD electric vehicle (EV) bus fleet, recognized as one of the leading EV school bus operations in the United States.
The project includes a wide range of vehicles and equipment, such as electric buses, EV charging stations, solar panels, electric lawn equipment, and educational components. Together, these initiatives make this project both innovative and inspiring for our district.

The School Bus Replacement Program provides funding to replace older diesel school buses in disadvantaged and low-income communities throughout California. The California Energy Commission is helping schools embrace next-generation zero-emission vehicles and improve children’s health by reducing their exposure to transportation-related air pollution.
