10/22/2024 The nomination process begins throughout the district. Sites establish a Classified Employee of the Year selection process to identify a classified employee who best meets the selection criteria.

11/12/2024 The Classified Employee of the Year site nomination forms are due to principals/supervisors.
11/20/2024 Principal/Supervisor site selections (via Google Form) are due to Communications. 
12/18/2024 If Classified Employee of the Year is participating in the district process, three letters of recommendation (one must be completed by principal/supervisor) are due to Communications@trusd.net
January 2025 Interviews for District Classified Employees of the Year.
May 2025 Classified Employees of the Year will be recognized. 

Program Overview

 
We are pleased to participate in the Classified Employee of the Year (CEY) program through the Sacramento County Office of Education and the California Department of Education. This program pays tribute to the tireless efforts of our outstanding classified school employees. They are vital staff members who play key roles in creating an environment that promotes student achievement, safety, and health. Twin Rivers Unified School District will select nine candidates to represent the District at the county level CEY program in each of the following categories:
 
Clerical and Administrative Services
The work must be directly related to clerical or secretarial duties.
For example: attendance clerk, secretary, accountant.
 
Custodial and Maintenance Services
The work must be directly related to operation or maintenance services.
For example: custodian, groundskeeper.
 
Food and Nutrition Services
The work must be directly related to food handling and/or preparation.
For example: chef, cook, cafeteria worker.
 
Health and Student Services
The work must be directly related to health and student services.
For example: nurse, counselor. 
 
Paraprofessional Services
The work must be directly related to instructional services to students.
For example: paraeducator, instructional aide, library technician. 
 
Security Services
The work must be directly related to the security of students and/or property.
For example: school resource officer, police officer, community outreach assistant. 
 
Skilled Trades Services
The work must be directly related to skilled services.
For example: carpenter, electrician, plumber, painter, mechanic. 
 
Technical Services
The work must be directly related to technical duties.
For example: network engineer, technology support, programmer. 
 
Transportation Services
The work must be directly related to student transportation.
For example: bus driver, dispatcher. 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

 
Who may be nominated for Classified Employee of the Year?
Twin Rivers follows state and county guidelines in the selection process:
 
  • The nominee must be a current employee in a California public preschool through 12th grade including charter schools, school districts and county offices of education.
 
Employees in substitute or temporary positions are ineligible to be a District Classified Employee of the Year. Also, TRUSD Adult Education may choose a Classified Employee of the Year; however, he/she is not eligible for county or state-level participation.
 
  • Nominee must be a rank-and-file employee, not in a management or supervisory position.
  • Nominee must have a minimum of five years of service in the nomination category, with no minimum full-time equivalent.
 
Sites may choose an employee with fewer years of service; however, he/she will not be eligible to participate at the District or county level.
 
Who can submit a nomination for Classified Employee of the Year?
Any person (teacher, colleague, parent, student, District employee, or community member) may submit a nomination. Self-nominations will also be accepted.
 
Who selects the District Classified Employee of the Year?
Our District interview panels are comprised of District employees. They will select one Classified Employee of the Year for each of the nine categories.
 
What does it mean to be a Classified Employee of the Year?
Nine Classified Employees of the Year represent Twin Rivers in the annual Sacramento County Classified Employee of the Year program and are recognized in the fall at a reception during a school board meeting.

Although Ms. Beukema has only been with MLKTA for a year, she has made considerable contributions to the team. As an experienced LMT she immediately made an impact on the library environment, creating a safe and welcoming space for students. Ms. Beukema cares for our community and has built positive relationships with both students and staff. She is the advisor of our first ever Book Club, has made great strides in modernizing our library inventory and has developed systems to ensure that student Chromebooks are accounted for and in good working order.
 
Ms. B is an asset to the team and I am proud to nominate her as Classified Employee of the Year for MLKTA.
 
Keren is the 2025 Twin Rivers District Classified Employee of the Year for Professionial Services.

Cafe Specialist, Vista Nueva Career & Technology High School
 
Ms. Aida is a dedicated food professional and comes to work with a positive and compassionate attitude. She always leads with enthusiasm and a drive to do the job right - going above and beyond. She contributes new ideas and is always trying to do what is best for the students at Vista Nueva.
 
Ms. Aida's work performance is nothing but outstanding. She is very meticulous about her job - from ensuring the students have a healthy and nutritious meal to the cleanliness of her kitchen and the presentation of the food.

Aida is the 2025 Twin Rivers District Classified Employee of the Year for Food and Nutrition Services.

Administrative Clerk Senior, Rio Linda High School
 
Ms. Davis is an exceptional employee who has a heart of gold. She is willing to go above and beyond for any student at Rio Linda High School. Her relationships she has with students is more than just an administrative clerk. She is capable and willing to be a mentor, coach, confidant, and lend a listening ear when needed. Ms. Davis is empathic and understanding. She has the ability to connect with students on a personal level and address their unique needs and challenges. She provides parents the information needed to get students enrolled in school and handles challenges calmly. She finds innovative ways to keep students engaged and active on campus.
 
Ms. Davis is a positive role model on campus and inspires and motivates students to reach their full potential.

These five district classified employees were submitted to SCOE to be considered as Sacramento County Office of Education Classified Employee of the Year in the categories indicated for each nominee.
