Transitional Kindergarten
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a developmentally appropriate program that follows the guidelines outlined in the California Preschool Learning Foundations, developed by the California Department of Education. As the first year of a two-year kindergarten program, TK is aligned with kindergarten standards and is taught by credentialed teachers. The curriculum emphasizes play-based learning, allowing students to develop critical social, emotional, and cognitive skills through hands-on, exploratory experiences. The program was established through the Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010 (SB 1381) to better support young learners in building foundational academic and social skills before entering traditional kindergarten.
Transitional Kindergarten follows the standard school day schedule and is offered as a full-day program; for specific start and end times, please refer to your school’s bell schedule.
Twin Rivers Unified uses an online enrollment application process where you can enroll for the current school year or pre-enroll for the next school year.
