School Fact Sheet

To inspire each student to extraordinary achievement every day.

School Highlights

Martin Luther King Jr. Technology Academy (MLKTA) is a comprehensive neighborhood middle school serving students in grades 7-8 in the North Sacramento area. We are dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to an equitable, challenging, and culturally-responsive curriculum where students' unique learning needs are met as they prepare for high school. Ensuring campus safety is paramount, with both physical and mental health supports readily available on site.

The MLKTA student population is ethnically and linguistically diverse, with approximately 500 students. All students are issued a district Chromebook, a charge cord, and a backpack upon enrollment in lieu of textbooks.

MLKTA implements Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) & COST systems to ensure that all students receive the assistance and intervention needed to succeed in the secondary school environment. Students are recognized for their positive behaviors with ROAR points, which may be redeemed at our Student Store. Academic achievement is celebrated quarterly at school-wide Award Ceremonies.

MLKTA staff participate in weekly professional development activities on Early Release Wednesdays, and work in classrooms equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, interactive whiteboards, and document cameras to ensure quality instruction that nurtures student learning. We are not just a school—we are a family that takes pride in our school and surrounding community for the sake of OUR students' advancement: academically, socially, and emotionally.
