Excellence in Education
Westside Elementary prides itself as a community of lifelong curious learners! Our staff works collaboratively—with one another and with educators—to support student achievement. All students learn technological skills to prepare for their future. Interventions are available for students who need extra help, either through staff or innovative, research-based technology. Students receive differentiated instruction daily through What I Need (WIN) time. Teachers and support staff use multiple forms of assessments and professional expertise to ensure that students receive the correct support they need. Fostering a positive, friendly, and welcoming environment, Westside has many programs including: a class buddy program, monthly student achievement recognition, literacy night, Lunch with a Loved One, and Grandparents’ Day. Westside is home to a BRIDGE (Building, Restoring, Initiating, Developing, Growing, and Empowering) class for students with disabilities. Our Expanded Learning after-school program provides after-school recreation, homework help, and enrichment for Westside children. These services are free to families and enhance our students with literacy, technology, sports, and tutoring.
Westside also has a robust athletics program including sports in basketball, flag football, track and cheer. Staff also provide after-school tutoring as needed. Field trips and assemblies bring new learning experiences to our children. Family events encourage family learning for all. Additionally, we offer after-school enrichment opportunities and intervention programs.
Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) works with staff on family events that bring us together with various events throughout the school year. Community partners also contribute to our school in many ways, such as classroom presentations and donations.
