Security Measures and Projects
Fencing Project: All TRUSD schools will have site security perimeter fencing, which include simple locking devices for exterior or interior key access.
Lighting Project: Replacement and upgrade of interior and exterior lighting.
Keys and Lock Upgrades: Updating classroom site locks to install classroom security lock which will provide the option to lock or unlock the classroom from the inside.
Public Announcement (PA) System Updates: PA systems are being updated to ensure audio clarity from anyone on the campus.
Background and Fingerprint Checks: All contractors and consultant who are not physically escorted onto a school campus will have a badge indicating they have been background checked and fingerprinted.
Camera Project: District-wide installation of new surveilance cameras with school-wide monitoring and recording capabilities. This project includes large-screen monitors and high-powered computers for viewing camera activity.

- Ensuring fuel efficient LED lights that are a time clock, activating after the sun goes down.
- Discourages unwanted intruders outside of the school day.
- Enables clear view of vision for campus monitoring and security.

- Ensure clear understanding of instructions and warnings to students and staff anywhere on campus.
- Limits miscommunication during times of emergency.

- Protect District property by alerting Police Services and Administration to trespassing outside of school hours.
- Protects students and staff by providing central visibility to activity in public areas on campuses during and after school hours.
- Camers also increase safety as they serve as a deterrent to illegal or unsafe activity on TRUSD campuses.
Compliance & Preventative Measures
OPS Meetings: Bi-annual meetings between District and Site Leadership to identify areas of concern and needed upgrades.
Playground Upgrades: Updates to out-of-date or dangerous playground equipment to ensure safe play areas for students.
100% DSA Submittal: School Boards have the option on some facility projects to forego the DSA submittal process. Twin Rivers has opted to submit all facility projects to DSA to ensure full compliance.
HVAC Upgrades Project: District-wide update to HVAC systems to ensure classrooms are well ventilated, heated and cooled.
Preventative Measures: Twin Rivers conducts ongoing maintenance to facilites as part of our proactive approach to promoting safety at school sites.

Ongoing Safety Trainings: Employees receive continual training on how to properly utilize equipment. Safety trainings are conducted and tracked monthly.
